I have never met anyone who has hated Google. One of the strongest (and possibly the most genius) brands in the world, Google just keeps getting better. It’s one of those brands that are so versatile, so iconic, and so game-changing that almost the whole universe uses their services and the rest would simply die to work with them (myself included). I bet you a kiss that you have Google Chrome somewhere in your desktop. AND that you have used Youtube to watch videos from Gamnam Style to Taylor Swift’s Style. Youtube is part of Google’s subsidiaries since it was acquired by Google a few years back for the value of $1.65 Billion.
But I know what you’re thinking what does all of this have to do with Bogart, Chris Urbano, and Erwan… IN THE KITCHEN?
I mean FOOD AND GOOGLE…. AND ERWAN HAUSAFF?! WHAT IS HAPPENING?!
Google Cafe my friends, Google Cafe is what’s happening and there is a Google Cook-Off happening in the Google Kitchen (which is conveniently located in CCA Manila, only for one day… Also, did I mention Erwan Hausaff was there? Just checking. I mean, you might have skipped his face that was chiseled by the gods… Again, just checking.)
The two chefs and the chef-chefan (Bogart says that’s his title) battle it out in a cook-off in the CCA kitchen with their respective teams consisting of CCA Students and different people from the media.
Bogart the Explorer, should you be living under a rock and not know him, is a Youtube powerhouse with his very comedic videos.
Chris Urbano is another Youtube sensation. Aside from his viral “Foreigner buys Jollibee in Tagalog” video, he is also a Chef who uploads his cooking videos/tutorials on his channel: Maputing Cooking. Chris is as raw of a Youtube sensation as he is a chef, you can see him roaming around Farmers Market to shop for his ingredients!
And last but not the least, Erwan Hausaff. He is known as The Fat Kid Inside on Youtube (slash Solenn Hausaff’s brother, slash Anne Curtis’ boyfie, slash possibly not a mortal being, slash “Hi Anne Curtis, we all wish you we were you”, slash “Lord, make more beings like this.”), where he cooks up healthy but delish meals (and his smirk is free if you play his videos on youtube…on loop. #NoShame #NOSHAME). Just look at the smirk. LOOK. AT. IT. The guy can smize.
But you see, cooking up something in the Google cafe requires more than skills, you need apps. Each chef is challenged with obstacles as they cook up their dish, which is in a Google doc! Oh Google Docs, you remind me of IMC group works and Peer Evals…
Their weapons for the challenges? Google and Android One phones.
We see Bogart using Google Translate to get the ingredients he needs for the dish.
Chris uses Google Search to convert measurements.
And Erwan is… being Erwan. Honestly. IS HE EVEN HUMAN?
Here is Erwan’s finished dish while Bogart asks his phone about asparagus #BogartFTW.
The dishes had to be judged by CCA officials
And here we see Erwan… Sweating in the intense moment of judging (just describing what I see).
Bogart strikes a pose with his group!
The three boys sip some wine from the measuring cups to celebrate as they finish their dishes.
In the end, Erwan wins! (Honestly, is there something this guy can’t do?!) He jokes the eeping crowd, “So should I just take it off?”and pulls his shirt (No comment except asdfghjkl).
They sit down quickly with the Google&Youtube Reps and chat about how their culinary career boomed with Youtube as their form of medium. The world is looking for quick, easy, and real content (Erwan shares): the thing that all these three sensations have in their channel, and the world is really looking for more of it. Big TV channels who are now struggling to keep up with the evolution and pace of digital which is why you can see these channels collaborating with Youtube sensations like these guys!
Yes friends, let’s get digital indeed. And who’s to say, maybe if you start up your own channel and be as amazing as these three people, you just be a youtube star yourself! So start up that camera phone and upload those videos! If you’re into cooking, why not share a family recipe on Youtube?
So? What did we learn today? That there are perfect questionable-if-mortal-beings… aside from Lana Del Rey. Also, we learn how versatile Google is! While we get used to using it on our laptops, we forget that Google is equally amazing off that screen and into the small one! You have all of these awesome apps that you can download instead of the dreaded Flappy Bird! And who knew we can use it in the kitchen? Move those old cooking books from the shelves of your houses and into Google or even Youtube where you can get to watch recipes cooked right before your eyes! And once you’ve nailed down those recipes post your own videos on your own Youtube channel! Who know, you just might be the next Youtube Cooking Sensation?
Cooking up something special, always.
