Sundays for me are now a balance of either mass and work or mass and coffee catch-ups. Last Sunday was a great time to have a coffee catch-up with a couple of friends. Being true to the nature of adventure and the underground, we headed over to Toby’s Estate in Makati.
Toby’s is a very fancy and classy place with a very modern-retro vibe. It’s interiors are very real and tasteful, making you comfortable and right at home the moment you walk in. Usual guests are your Makati expats and Makati dwellers. I must say, it is a good place to meet friends in, definitely not a “I’ll sit here and be alone” place. Toby’s is all about friends, having a good laugh on the stories that only your friends would understand.
The staff are pretty nice and accommodating and the best part? The food is just as delightful.
Being a coffee-roaster (in essence) I had to try the coffee and Flat White is simply a personal fave in any cafe, I got mine Iced. Not bad, the coffee wasn’t too acidic nor too nutty. Perhaps the milk balanced it right out. My friend went for this chocolate cube, who’s name escapes me but you can have it with ice cream. Think Chocolava but square.
For the “mains”, I went for the Chorizo & Egg Bun which was one of the most delightful burgers I have had. The chorizo was salty and very pulled which matched the baby potato chips tossed with garlic . It was a good play of salty and crispy and even freshness due to the added greens. The chorizo was the Spanish one, the real-tasting Spanish one; needless to say, I am delighted.
My friends aimed at the Egg part of the Menu (Yes, they have an Egg part in their menu. Meaning dishes focused on eggs. Yes I know. I love eggs too!). They went for the Egg Skillet with Salmon and Capers and the Traviata.
Trust me, the food in Toby’s taste as good as they taste. Although some people might say that P350 for a pan of eggs might be too much, I say that the premium ingredients they use do not come cheap (hence, premium).
